Message from the Guild President

Dear Friends of the Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church, I am thrilled that you have found us and welcome to the Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church!

We are a group of over two thousand vergers from the US, Canada, and throughout the world who share a common interest in the ministry of the verger. I am pleased to serve as the current president of the VGEC.

Working under the direction of our rector, vicar, or priest-in-charge, the verger's ministry of service and organization can be a significant source of comfort for the clergy and fellow parishioners.

Vergers make a difference in parishes of all sizes, freeing clergy from routine, organizational and mundane duties so they can focus on pastoral and sacramental responsibilities.

Many parishes have people who are acting in the role of verger but may be called "Sacristan" or the "Liturgy Committee Chair" or one of many other titles. ALL of these roles serve many of the same functions and all are welcome to join and be members of the VGEC.

If you are new to the ministry of verger or interested in learning more, you might want to check out, "New to the Ministry of Verger." You may also want to visit join.vergers.org for a FREE six-month trial membership. This is a great way to join the Guild and see what we have to offer before paying for a membership. Our annual dues are only $40/year for a regular membership. This fee helps us spread the word throughout the world about the verger ministry. Click HERE for more information.

We also offer a comprehensive training course for vergers: "A Course of Training for a Verger". The course enriches the development of a verger with detailed information about the roles, responsibilities, interpersonal relationships, and practical aspects of being a verger.

We also have a very active Facebook following at facebook.com/vergerguild and a VergerTV channel on YouTube. Please join us there! For more ways to connect with us, see vergers.org/connect.

Please contact me if I can be of any assistance in your ministry of being a verger for your parish. We are glad to have you with us!

Kind regards,

Duke
