Mark Emory Graham Scholarship Fund

In 1989, Mark Emory Graham was a verger at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and was one of the founding members of the VGEC. He was instrumental in promoting vergers in the Diocese of Atlanta and helped form the local VGEC Chapter which today is named in his memory. He was also the principal author of the first VGEC Training Course and he served as Treasurer for seven years until his untimely death on April 4, 1996. On September 12, 1997, the VGEC was presented a bequest of $5,000 from Mark's estate by his father, Lloyd Graham, and on October 27, 2005 the VGEC designated the money the "Mark Emory Graham Fund" to provide scholarships which would enable more vergers to attend the annual conferences.

Each year, the fund provides a number of scholarships to cover a portion of the registration expense. Scholarships are are intended to develop the ministry of the verger and are considered for:

• • Young vergers

  • New vergers

  • First time Annual Conference attendees

  • Those with a financial need

The VGEC has an option in secure.vergers.org for members to make an additional gift towards the Mark Emory Graham Scholarship Fund in order to keep this as a sustainable program in the VGEC for many years to come. Memorial gifts can also be accepted. The VGEC is a 501(c)3 charitable organization and all donations to the scholarship fund are 100% tax deductible.
