The Vergers' Guild of the Episcopal Church (VGEC) is a service organization that supports the ministry of the verger. A verger is a member of the laity who works under the direction of the parish priest to assist with the organization and operation of religious services in the Episcopal Church in the US, the Anglican Church of Canada, the Church of England, and elsewhere in the Anglican Communion.

Through our education programs, online resources, and opportunities for fellowship, the VGEC supports more than one thousand members around the US and the world. The photos in the scroll above are a random sample of our membership.

Please see the welcome message from VGEC President Margaret McLarty for more information about the ministry of the verger and the role of the Vergers' Guild.

If you are interested in getting started with a new verger ministry in your parish, see Starting a new Verger Ministry.

Becoming a member of the Vergers' Guild is easy. It only costs $40 per year and provides a large number of benefits of being a member of the Vergers' Guild.

New Edition of the VGEC Training Course is Released

The Vergers’ Guild of the Episcopal Church has released the 2012 edition of “A Course of Training for the Verger.” This is the first major revision of the course since the original edition was published in 1996. Among the changes is a new section entitled, “Getting to know the VGEC” that takes course participants on a tour of the resources and programs available to members of the Vergers‘ Guild. Another new section, “Outline for Course Completion and Submission” was added to help course participants through the process of completing their course materials for review at the end of their course.

Membership Management System Online

The VGEC uses an online membership management system located at membership.vergers.org. This enables the efficient maintenance of membership data and has improved communication as it allows for easy and secure online processing of new memberships and renewals.

To renew your membership, simply login at membership.vergers.org. Do not worry if you don't know your password as there are simple instructions to follow that will help you login for the first time.

If you are not a member, please join the VGEC using this system now as it only takes a few minutes to join and our membership rates have remained the same since our founding over twenty years ago.

Printed membership renewal notices are also mailed to all members who do not renew online. Please help us save cost and resources by renewing online today.
